Soccer Extreme : Roy Hodgson's plans for this afternoon's Merseyside derby have been ripped up following the late withdrawal of Christian Poulsen, according to unconfirmed reports.
It's understood that Poulsen was given permission to withdraw from the squad for the trip to Goodison Park late on Saturday night on 'compassionate grounds'.
Poulsen had been set to line up in the centre of midfield, enabling Hodgson to select Steven Gerrard in attack alongside Fernando Torres.
However, Gerrard is now expected to play in midfield, with David N'Gog partnering Torres instead. (football365)
