Soccer Extreme : In the opening minutes of Saturday’s Ukraine v England match, England keeper Robert Green was forced to scurry out of his goal as the Ukrainian fans hurled flares onto the pitch.

Once the threat of being pegged with a fireball and burning alive subsided, the unnerved goalkeeper promptly went on to earn the first red card for England since Wayne Rooney in the last World Cup. England would go on to lose 1-0, snapping Fabio Capello unbeaten streak, but Ukraine could come out of this the bigger losers.

Between the flares and the monkey noises directed at Carlton Cole towards the end of the match, Ukrainian fans didn’t exactly display the kind of decorum UEFA would hope for from the co-host nation of Euro 2012.

While these incidents probably weren’t enough to get them stripped of the event, UEFA might now be looking to emphasize the Polish portions of the tournament a bit more. (dirtytackle)
