Soccer Extreme : Juventus legend Jose Altafini believes Diego is like ex-Brazil star Zico.Diego scored two wonder-goals to put Roma to the sword on Sunday and keep his side flying at the top end of the Serie A table.
His first strike is an early contender for goal of the season as he ran halfway down the pitch, beating Marco Cassetti and John Arne Riise, before finishing smartly when faced with Julio Sergio.
Altafini, who played as a striker for Juve during the 1970s, has talked up the qualities of his fellow Brazilian.
"Juventus have signed the most elegant player around," Altafini told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"He knows how to do everything, recover the ball, impose himself on the game and score without ever stopping.
"His movements and dribbling remind me of Zico, but Diego is faster and he plays all over the pitch."
Franco Causio, who also played for Juventus, has compared Diego to Gianfranco Zola and Roberto Baggio.
"The way he beats his man reminds of me of Zola. Baggio also used to do these things, but Diego is more physical," added Causio. (goal)
