Soccer Extreme : Inter centre-back Marco Materazzi has sued Rai TV series ‘L’Ispettore Coliandro’ after one of their characters allegedly poked fun at his propensity for earning red cards, reports Sport Mediaset.

“He was sent off again and I lost,” said a fantacalcio (fantasy football) enthusiast during an episode of the show.

The 36-year-old World Cup winner deemed the line to be slanderous and has instructed his lawyers to initiate court action against the creators of the series, demanding €1 in compensation for every viewer who watched the episode.

Marco Manetti, one of the directors of the show, admitted they are facing libel action from the former Everton man during a press conference yesterday.

“Ironically, I am an Inter fan and, as a matter of fact, there are several references to the Nerazzurri in the show,” he said.

Materazzi famously took legal action against a number of English tabloids in the wake of the 2006 World Cup final between Italy and France over their reporting of the Zinedine Zidane headbutt incident. (goal)
