Ticketing Terms and Conditions (TTCs) for AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™

1. Acceptance of TTCs by the Ticket Holder

Any use of an AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ ("Event") match ticket ("Ticket") and the terms of admission to the Stadium at which an Event match ("Match") is taking place will be subject to these Ticketing Terms and Conditions ("TTCs") as established by the Asian Football Confederation ("AFC") and the Qatar Football Association(“QFA”)/Local Organizing Committee of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ ("QLOC") (collectively, "Organisers"). Anyone who purchases, holds or uses a Ticket ("Ticket Holder") will be deemed to have fully and irrevocably agreed with the Organisers to these TTCs.
2. Confirmation of the TTCs

In addition to Section 1, by registration and submission for purchase of Tickets issued by the Organisers (or any third party approved by the AFC) online or at the ticketing box offices, each person who registers for, or purchases, Tickets (“Ticket Purchaser”) confirms that: (a) he/she has read, understood and accepted the TTCs, and (b) undertakes that each individual receiving a Ticket through the Ticket Purchaser (directly or indirectly) will have read, understood and accepted the TTCs prior to receiving a ticket. For that purpose, the Ticket Purchaser will provide a copy of these TTCs to the individuals receiving Tickets from him and will direct the individuals to the additional sources for copies of the TTCs that are identified in Clause 11.2 below.

3. Entry to the Stadium

3.1 Entry into a stadium ("Stadium"), which includes areas under the control of the Organisers, the Stadia owners and/or the Qatari governmental authorities (collectively, "AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities") on a Match day, will be authorised on a Match day only upon the presentation of a valid Ticket by each person seeking to gain entrance, except children under the age of 3 years who are sharing the same seat with an adult. This ticket must remain attached to the stub until entrance to the stadium. Ticket Holders shall keep their Ticket during the whole duration of the Match and until exit of the Stadium.

3.2 Each Ticket evidences permission to enter the Stadium on a Match day can, at any time, be revoked for good reason by the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities.

3.3 Minors are only allowed to enter the Stadium when they are accompanied by an adult.

3.4 All Ticket Holders must comply with the applicable safety and security rules adopted by the Organisers for the Stadia on Match days, with the applicable Qatari law and with the Stadium Code of Conduct. It is strictly prohibited at any time in and around the Stadium to use, possess or hold weapons of any kind, sharp objects or anything that could be used as a weapon, fireworks, flares or other pyrotechnics, electronic loud speakers, projectiles, wooden sticks, bottles of any kind, animals, gas horns, rolls of paper, provocative clothing, alcoholic beverages or any other or similar items which could put public safety and health at risk and/or harm the reputation of the Organisers.

3.5 It is strictly prohibited in and around the Stadium to use, possess hold or offer to sell any religious and political item, signs, banners or leaflets bearing political, ideological, religious, promotional or commercial texts, messages or symbol or any items that could infringe any rights of the Organisers and their commercial affiliates/partners for the Event, and other objects which could compromise public safety and/or harm the reputation of the Organisers reflected in the Stadium Code of Conduct. The Stadium Code of Conduct should be read carefully before attendance at a Match.

3.6 The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities will be entitled to carry out checks on any Ticket Holder in accordance with Qatari law. Tickets may be rendered null and void, and entrance into a Stadium can be refused for any person who, or a Ticket Holder can be refused admission or ejected from the Stadium if such Ticket Holder:
• a) is noticeably under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any behaviour-modifying substance;
• b) is behaving, or is likely to behave, violently, harmfully or in a manner liable to disrupt public order or cause a nuisance to other Ticket Holders; or
• c) has failed to comply with the terms of these TTCs, with any of the applicable safety and security rules, with the applicable Qatari law, with the Stadium Code of Conduct, or Sales Regulations, if any.

3.7 Individuals who have been banned from attending football matches by competent authorities or sports governing bodies in any country, or who are considered as a security risk, are prohibited from receiving Tickets and from entering or remaining in the Stadium.

3.8 Tickets must be shown whenever requested by the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities. Ticket Holders leaving the Stadium will not be re-admitted unless otherwise approved by the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities.

3.9 Each Ticket is numbered to identify a specific entrance gate and seat. Each Ticket Holder must sit in the seat allocated to the respective Ticket. The Organisers reserve the right to substitute the seat identified on the Ticket with another seat, if appropriate for security reasons, without compensation to the Ticket Holder.

3.10 The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities cannot guarantee:
• a) that a specific player will participate in a Match; or
• b) the length of time that any Match will be played; or
• c) that the Ticket Holder will have uninterrupted and/or uninhibited view of the Match from the seat provided. The Organisers will use reasonable efforts to identify obstructed view seats prior to purchase.

4. No resale of Tickets

4.1 Ticket Holders may not sell, offer for sale resell their Ticket in any way, without the specific prior written approval of the Organisers.

4.2 Tickets cannot be returned, replaced and/or exchanged for any reason.

4.3 Tickets may only be purchased through the officially authorised agents of the Organisers. Any Ticket obtained from any other source (for example, unauthorised intermediaries such as ticket brokers, internet auctions, internet ticket agents) will be rendered invalid, and all rights of entry into the Stadium will be nullified. Such Tickets will be cancelled by electronic or other means, and any person seeking to use such a Ticket obtained through unauthorised sources will be refused entry into the Stadium, ejected from the Stadium and/or will have their Ticket seized by the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities, in addition to any other remedies available to the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities.

4.4 Upon request from the Organisers, Ticket Holders must explain how, from whom, for what consideration and from where they obtained their Tickets.

5. Sound and Image Recordings

5.1 Any Ticket Holder attending a Match expressly acknowledges that it is a public event that is being recorded. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any person attending a Match agrees that use may be made in perpetuity, free of charge or any compensation, of her/his voice, image, photograph and likeness by means of live or recorded video display, broadcast, streaming or other transmission or recording, photographs or any other current and/or future media technologies (now known or hereinafter invented and/or devised), and irrevocably consents to the use of such voice, image, photograph or likeness by the AFC or third parties authorised by the AFC to use such media. Each Ticket Holder waives in advance all rights and actions seeking to oppose such exploitation, subject to applicable law. The AFC (and third parties authorised by the AFC with respect to the use of such media) will be bound by, and comply with, all applicable laws with respect to any use they may make of such media.

5.2 Ticket Holders are not allowed to bring a professional video or photo camera inside the Stadium. Ticket Holders may not record or transmit any sound, moving or still image or description of the Match (or any result or statistic of the Match) other than for private use. It is strictly forbidden to disseminate any sound, moving or still image, description, result or statistic of the Match, in whole or in part, for any sort of public access, irrespective of the transmission form, whether over the internet, radio, television, mobile phone, data accessory or any other current and/or future media (now known or hereinafter invented and/or devised), unless expressly authorised by AFC in writing and in advance. Ticket Holders may not assist any other person(s) to conduct such activities.

6. Prohibitions Regarding Ambush Marketing and Other Marketing Activities

6.1 Ticket Holders may not engage in any form of activity which may result in an unauthorised commercial association with the Organisers, the Event or parts of it to the detriment of the Organisers or their commercial affiliates/partners, whether by way of an unauthorised use of logos or otherwise (“Ambush Marketing”).

6.2 At the Stadia on Match days, Ticket Holders are strictly prohibited from using, wearing, possessing or holding promotional or commercial objects and materials, other than those of the Organisers’ commercial affiliates/partners, or offering to sell, selling or possessing with the intent to sell drinks, food, souvenirs, clothes, or other promotional and/or commercial items. All such items may be removed or confiscated by the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities

6.3 Ticket Holders are strictly prohibited from providing any type of commercial service or undertaking any commercial promotions in the Stadium, unless expressly authorised by the AFC in writing.

6.4 Ticket Holders are strictly prohibited from handing out pamphlets or information relating to, or in any way promoting or drawing attention to, any business, cause, charity or concern, whether commercial or not, in the Stadium, unless expressly authorised by the Organisers in writing.

6.5 The use of tickets for advertising, sales promotions or any other commercial purposes (including, but not limited to, offers for sale, use as a premium, give-away or prize in a competition or sweepstake) is strictly prohibited without the prior written approval of the AFC.

6.6 Tickets may not be sold, or otherwise included for commercial purposes as part of a travel package (for example combining Tickets with flights and/or a hotel room night) or as part of a hospitality package (for example combining Tickets with pre or post Match catering services in proximity to the Stadia), without the prior written approval of the AFC.

7. Acceptance of Risk and Limited Liability

7.1 TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE TICKET HOLDER (IN HER/HIS OWN NAME AND ON BEHALF OF ANY MINORS USING A TICKET BOUGHT BY HER/HIM) ACCEPTS ALL RISKS AND DANGERS WHICH THE TICKET HOLDER MAY FACE OR ENDURE WHILE ATTENDING ANY MATCH AND WAIVES ANY CLAIMS OR ACTION AGAINST THE AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITIES, THE TEAMS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR PARTNERS, RELATING TO SUCH RISKS AND DANGERS. THE TICKET HOLDER (IN HER/HIS OWN NAME AND ON BEHALF OF ANY MINORS USING A TICKET BOUGHT BY HIM) ACCEPTS THAT THERE ARE RISKS TO HER/HIS PERSONAL SAFETY OR PROPERTY LOSS ON THE WAY TO OR FROM AND OUTSIDE OF OR WITHIN THE STADIUM. NOTHING IN THIS PARAGRAPH IS INTENDED TO REQUIRE A TICKET HOLDER TO ACCEPT RISKS OR DANGERS FROM, OR WAIVE RIGHTS TO DAMAGES ARISING FROM, THE GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILFUL MISCONDUCT OF AN AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITY.

7.2 EACH OF THE RESPECTIVE ENTITIES REFERRED TO AS THE AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITIES HAVE INDEPENDENT ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE EVENT. ONE AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITY SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIVITIES OR OMISSIONS OF ANOTHER AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITY. EACH AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS OWN ACTS AND OMISSIONS.

7.3 NOTHING IN THIS TTCs WILL EXCLUDE OR RESTRICT ANY LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OR IMPROPER CONDUCT BY AN AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITY OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY WHICH CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

8. Orders of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities and Non-compliance by Ticket Holder

8.1 For security reasons, and in order to ensure the orderly and smooth implementation of the Event, the Ticket Holder must follow the orders of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities at the Stadia on Match days. Each Ticket holder is required to cooperate with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities in the event the Ticket Holder is requested to provide proof of her/his identity or to consent to the confiscation of prohibited items that may be in her/his possession at the Stadia.

8.2 If a Ticket is rendered null and void, admission is refused, or a Ticket Holder is ejected from the Stadium based on a violation of the TTCs, the Sales Regulations, if any, the Stadium Code of Conduct or any other relevant laws or by-laws, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities, to the full extent permitted by applicable law, will not be obligated to issue any refund.

8.3 In the event of a violation of any terms of the TTCs, the Sales Regulations, if any, the Stadium Code of Conduct or any other relevant laws or by-laws, in addition to the other rights and remedies that the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities may have, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities have the right to:
• a) render null and void the Tickets of the Ticket Holder;
• b) refuse entry into the Stadium to the Ticket Holder or eject the Ticket Holder from the Stadium;
• c) file suit to enforce the TTCs and claim damages, if appropriate; and/or
• d) notify governmental authorities of a violation of the provisions of the TTCs , the Sales Regulations, if any, the Stadium Code of Conduct and/or the relevant laws or by-laws that correspond to violations of applicable criminal or other laws.

8.4 In addition to laws applicable in other countries, the Qatar government may enact laws or regulations that make it a criminal offence to use Tickets in violation of the TTCs, the Sales Regulations, if any, the Stadium Code of Conduct or any other relevant laws or by-laws. Ticket Holders are advised to obtain information about applicable laws relating to Tickets.

8.5 In addition to the remedies identified in Section 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4 above, the Ticket Holder agrees to give over to a charitable organisation identified by the Organisers all revenues or other consideration received from an unauthorised sale of Tickets as and to the extent determined by the Organisers.

8.6 EACH TICKET HOLDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE USE OF HER/HIS TICKET. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY TICKET HOLDER INDEMNIFIES AND HOLDS HARMLESS THE AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DAMAGES AND LIABILITIES SUFFERED AND/OR INCURRED IN CONNECTION WITH, ARISING OUT OF OR RESULTING FROM:
• a) HER/HIS MISUSE OF A TICKET; OR
• b) THE MISUSE OF A TICKET BY A MINOR IF THE TICKET WAS PURCHASED BY THE TICKET HOLDER; OR
• c) THE MISUSE OF A TICKET BY ANY OTHER THIRD PARTY WHICH HAS OBTAINED, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, A TICKET THROUGH THE TICKET HOLDER; OR
• d) A VIOLATION OF THE TTCs, THE SALES REGULATIONS, IF ANY, THE STADIUM CODE OF CONDUCT AND/OR ANY OTHER RELEVANT LAWS OR BY- LAWS; OR
• e) ANY OTHER HARMFUL CONDUCT IN CONNECTION WITH THE TICKET.
THIS MEANS: IF A TICKET HOLDER VIOLATES ANY TICKET RELATED RULES, SHE/HE WILL HAVE TO TAKE FULL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND PAY FOR ANY DAMAGE, INCLUDING LEGAL COSTS THAT THE AFC ASIAN CUP QATAR 2011™ AUTHORITIES MAY INCUR, IN MANAGING OR RESOLVING THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE VIOLATION.

9. Data

With the acceptance of these TTCs , the Ticket Holder gives its consent to use, process, storage and transfer to third parties designated by the Organisers (located both within and outside of Qatar), subject to applicable law, the personal data that he/she provides to the Organisers for purposes relating to Ticket sales and allocation procedures, any relevant safety and security measures and/or rights protection measures in connection with the Event.

10. Unforeseen Circumstances

10.1 The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities will not be held liable, no claim will be admissible, and no reimbursement will be made, in the event of the cancellation, interruption or modification of the times, dates and/or places of one or more Matches of the Event as a result of a Force Majeure event or any change of teams participating in a Match. A "Force Majeure" event means a natural peril, included but not limited to storm, earthquake, flood or other act of God, war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war or strife, riot, national state of emergency, plague, act of terrorism, rebellion, strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes, acts of governments or other prevailing authorities, or any other similar or related event which is beyond the control of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ Authorities which delays, prevents the holding of, or causes the cancellation, postponement and/or relocation of, one or more Matches or a substantial part of such a match or matches.

10.2 The Organisers reserve the right to make alterations or corrections to the times, dates and places of the Matches, or change the teams participating in a Match due to circumstances other than Force Majeure. If the Organisers make a change to the time or date of the Match, the Ticket will be valid for the re-scheduled Match. If the Organisers change the teams participating in a Match, the Ticket will be valid for the Match with the new teams. If a Match is relocated to another venue within Qatar, then procedures will be implemented for the exchange of Tickets for the alternative location to the extent possible.

10.3 If any Matches in Qatar are cancelled or abandoned due to circumstances other than Force Majeure, the Organisers will decide at their entire discretion if the ticket will be refunded at the face value to the Ticket Holder. No other circumstances will give rise to a refund.

10.4 Should the Ticket Holder be entitled to a refund for any reason whatsoever, no interest or costs will be due on any monies paid in relation to such a refund. No such refund will exceed the price paid to the Organisers for the Ticket. Compensation of further costs and expenses (for example travel or accommodation costs) is excluded. Furthermore, only the Ticket Holder will be eligible to apply for any refund. If a refund process is initiated, the Ticket Holder must produce the Ticket for which a refund is sought by the deadline specified by the Organisers

10.5 Due to security concerns, neither the Organisers nor their agents will issue duplicate Tickets because duplicate Tickets could result in more spectators entering the Stadium than the Stadium could safely accommodate. Neither the Organisers nor their agents will be liable for any lost or damaged Tickets or late delivery caused by malfunction or interruption of mail or delivery services. TREAT YOUR TICKETS WITH CARE AND KEEP THEM IN A SAFE LOCATION AT ALL TIMES. The Ticket Holder will safeguard her/his ticket, keep it away from heat and handle it as cash.

11. Miscellaneous

11.1 Any information requests relating to Tickets should be addressed to the Organisers through the following email address: tickets@asiancup2011.com.qa This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 11.2 THE TTCs THE SALES REGULATIONS, IF ANY, AND THE STADIUM CODE OF CONDUCT, ARE: (A) MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL TICKET HOLDERS AT www.the-afc.com; (B) PROVIDED TO ANY PERSON UPON REQUEST AT THE EMAIL ADDRESS INDICATED ABOVE; (C) PROVIDED TO THE TICKET APPLICANT IN ORDER TO BE DISTRIBUTED BY HER/HIM TO EVERY TICKET HOLDER RECEIVING TICKETS THROUGH HER/HIM; AND (D) POSTED AT OFFICIAL TICKETING BOX OFFICES. IN ADDITICION, THE STADIUM CODE OF CONDUCT WILL BE POSTED AT THE STADIA ON MATCH DAYS.

11.3 Should any provision(s) of these TTCs be declared void, ineffective or unenforceable by any competent court, the remainder of these TTCs will remain in effect as if such void, ineffective or unenforceable provision(s) had not been contained.

11.4 Certain provisions of these TTCs will be restated in a condensed format so that they may be printed within the small confined space allocated on the back of the Tickets. If there is any doubt regarding the scope or meaning of the condensed provisions on the Ticket backs, the terms of these TTCs will govern.

11.5 In the event of discrepancy between the English and translated texts if any, the English text will be used to solve doubts of interpretation and application.

11.6 To ensure continuity of application and clarity, these TTCs will be governed by, and interpreted in accordance with, the laws of the State of Qatar.

11.7 To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, for disputes regarding a Ticket, interpretation of these TTCs, compensation or refunds or attendance at the Event, the parties will seek to resolve such dispute amicably. If the parties fail to reach such amicable solution, the courts of the State of Qatar will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any claim, dispute or difference concerning this TTCs and any matter arising from it. Asian Cup 2011 : Iraq Hoping for Repeat Performance

Soccer Extreme : Having stunned the world by winning the title in 2007, Iraq will be looking for more glory at the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 this month.

The Iraqi team made headlines worldwide and were welcomed home as heroes after they defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in Jakarta four years ago to momentarily take the spotlight off the violence in their war-ravaged country.

But they face a stiff task this time after they were drawn in a highly competitive Group D that also features Iran, World Cup finalists DPR Korea and United Arab Emirates.

Experienced coach Wolfgang Sidka, who has only been in the job since the summer, has kept the bulk of the squad that brought Iraq their greatest ever football triumph, complemented by a sprinkling of young prospects.

However, it remains to be seen if the former Werder Bremen coach has had enough time to get his philosophy across to his charges.

Sidka is making no promises.

"I think we should try to do it (win the tournament) again," said the German, who has extensive coaching experience in the region.

"But first we have the match with Iran – and that’s our neighbours and our rivals – and then our target is to reach the quarter-finals.

"We have a tough group also with North Korea, who played at the World Cup, and also UAE, who played well at the Gulf Cup even though they were missing a lot of players.

"We’ll try to reach the quarter-finals and then we will see."

Dogged striker Younis Mahmoud, who scored the 71st-minute winner in the final four years ago, remains central to Iraq's hopes and is their talisman.

Nashat Akram, a clever and cultured midfielder, is also a pivotal figure who will need to be on top form if Iraq are to make it out of the group and beyond.

"What I have always said from the beginning is that we should improve step by step," said Sidka.

"We are trying to do better and we know this is a very tough competition. Maybe from 16 teams, 10 are able to get the Asian Cup."

Sidka's men start the defence of their Asian Cup crown on January 11 at the Al Rayyan Stadium against traditional heavyweights Iran in what promises to be a tasty showdown between the neighbours and rivals.

AFC Asian Cup Qatar Available Live in 65 Million US TV Households

Soccer Extreme : The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 will be available to more than 65 million U.S. TV households as a result of distribution agreements executed by One World Sports with leading cable and satellite groups in the United States.

The games will be distributed live and delayed in English and in High Definition.

One World Sports is a unit of One Media Corp, Inc. One World Sports acquired the rights to broadcast the event through Singapore-based World Sport Group, the AFC’s exclusive marketing and media partner.

The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 is Asia’s premier football tournament and brings together the top 16 national teams from across that continent. It is held once every four years, and is the first major international competition pitting nation against nation since the FIFA World Cup 2010 last summer in South Africa.

Iraq, the defending champion, will be joined by Japan, China, Iran, South Korea and Saudi Arabia, a quintet that historically fields the strongest teams. Ferguson hails Rooney 'courage'

Soccer Extreme : Sir Alex Ferguson heaped praised on Wayne Rooney for "showing courage" during Manchester United's 2-1 victory over West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Rooney's third-minute strike was his first from open play since March 2010.

He provided the assist for Javier Hernandez's winner and played on until the final whistle despite needing treatment for an ankle knock.

"Our doctor thought he'd be out for a couple of weeks but he came back on," said the United boss.

"He showed courage. I thought that performance was world-class."

Ferguson believes his prize forward will now go on a scoring run.

"He is a bit unlucky not to score a couple of extra goals. But that one today will give him unbelievable confidence," added the Scot, who turned 69 on New Year's Eve.

"Hopefully he kicks on from there."

Ferguson believes Rooney's ankle "will be OK" but the Scot added that he remained concerned about other players who picked up injuries.

"Wayne had to come off for a spell, Patrice Evra went down injured, Darron Gibson got an injury to his groin. We were struggling in the last 10 to 15 minutes in terms of not having 11 fully fit players on the pitch," he said on the club website.

Meanwhile, Ferguson believed his veteran full-back Gary Neville should have been sent off for appearing to pull down West Brom's Graham Dorrans in the 18-yard area during the first half.

"Gary was lucky to stay on," added Ferguson, who was fortunate to see referee Chris Foy wave play on.

"It was a penalty. At first I thought he had got a touch but when I saw it again, he was lucky."

West Brom manager Roberto di Matteo, perhaps predictably, also agreed with Ferguson's belief that Neville should not have stayed on the pitch.

"I feel frustrated. There was an incident in the first half where a United player [Neville] should have been sent off and we should have got a penalty," said the Italian.

"Of course I can't just point to that one moment because we've made our own mistakes."

One of those was a penalty missed by striker Peter Odemwingie with the score at 1-1. The Nigerian fired his effort wide of former Baggies keeper Tomasz Kuszczak's right-hand post.

"We were awarded a penalty and we missed it. In the Premier League, if you don't take those chances then you'll be in danger of losing," said Di Matteo.

"We are doing a lot of work and not getting any reward. We need to improve and we will try to make it better. I can't blame my players for this because the commitment is there." (bbc)

Soccer Extreme : Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney revealed on Friday that he is planning to go into management when he calls time on his playing career.

Rooney, 25, may only be approaching his prime as a player but the England international has already turned his thoughts to life after he hangs up his boots and he fancies his chances of succeeding as a manager.

Many of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's former stars have gone on to be successful managers, with the likes of Steve Bruce, Mark Hughes and Roy Keane all in charge of Premier League teams at various times since leaving Old Trafford.

In a MUTV interview, Rooney confirmed he has started to take his coaching badges and even insisted he would be happy to start his managerial career in the lower leagues.

"I would like to be a manager. That would be my ambition when I finish playing," Rooney said.

"You see the players who have played for Sir Alex and gone on to be good managers. I am hoping to do that one day.

"But I wouldn't like to follow the manager here, or start at an Everton or Manchester United.

"I want to learn something about the lower leagues and build a reputation that way rather than just jumping into a big club.

"It is not right if someone goes in and gets a big job with no experience. There are managers who have worked for years trying to get that."

Of course, United are hoping Rooney remains an invaluable member of Ferguson's squad for some time to come given he only recently signed a lucrative five-and-a-half-year contract extension.

Rooney, who also admitted he likes to relax before matches by listening to former Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle, concedes he was out of order to demand assurances about United's continued progress from Ferguson and chief executive David Gill before agreeing to stay at Old Trafford.

"I went to see the manager and David Gill and asked them for answers," he said.

"Now I realise it has nothing to do with me but I wanted to make sure it was the right thing for me to do.

"I got the answers in the end but looking back it was probably wrong of me to do that."

Rooney did not commit himself to United until after a visit from a hooded gang of around 30 to his plush mansion in Prestbury.

It was an alarming evening for Rooney, who could not even venture out to tell his "visitors" that agreement had already been reached.

"I looked out and saw 30 blokes with their hoods up. I wasn't going to invite them in for tea," he said.

"I understood some of the fans were disappointed and felt let down. But it was just one of those things I had to get right.

"Thankfully I have sorted it out now. I have made the right decision and made myself happy.

"But I didn't even think about where I was going to go. There was no way I would have gone to Manchester City and there was more chance of me going to City than Liverpool."

Rooney also reflected on England's "terrible" World Cup campaign and his attack on the national team's supporters immediately after the goalless draw with Algeria in Cape Town.

"The emotions were high because we weren't winning," he said.

But more than four hours before kickoff, the Spanish defender wrote in broken English on Twitter: "Sorry lads i have a test this morning and we decide is better dont play. ... Im so hungry because this game is nice to play. ... My hamstring is so stiff today."

Pardew, whose team lost 2-0, now wants his his players to withhold such revelations from social networking accounts. He acknowledges, however, that "it's difficult to police" and he won't impose an outright ban.

"I got a text message that the press knew," Pardew said. "Did he tweet it, did he? It's something as a club we need to look at. Players can't be giving that sort of information out. ... We need to make it as a club policy that it has to stop."

Asked if Enrique would be ready for Sunday's match against West Ham, Pardew cracked: "I'll check his tweet."

He may have been a bit late. Enrique already provided an update for his more than 5,000 followers.

"Im sure is ok for sunday because is just stiff nothing worse," he tweeted. "Thanks everyone for your support."

Pardew's annoyance must have reached Enrique. The messages were subsequently deleted from his feed.

Soccer Extreme : Goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat saved an early penalty and Safee Sali netted his fifth goal of the tournament as Malaysia claimed the AFF Suzuki Cup title for the first time despite losing 2-1 to Indonesia in the second leg of final at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday.

Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, Indonesia squandered an opportunity to cut the deficit when Firman Utina's weak spot kick in the 15th minute was stopped by Khairul. And the home team's hopes of rescuing the match were effectively snuffed out when Safee scored on the break nine minutes into the second half.

Mohammad Nasuha pulled back a goal with 18 minutes remaining and Muhammad Nasuha scored with a deflected effort two minutes from time to give the home side the win on the night although Malaysia still prevailed 4-2 on aggregate.

The Malaysians had lost their opening match of the tournament 5-1 to the Indonesians but they claimed the AFF Suzuki Cup by allowing only three goals in their last five games. Meanwhile, the Indonesians were left to rue yet another disappointing end to an AFF Suzuki Cup campaign as they lost in the final for a fourth time.

Both sides made two changes to their starting line-ups from the first leg. Arif Suyono replaced the suspended Oktovianus Maniani on the left of Indonesia's midfield while striker Irfan Bachdim was brought back in to replace Yongki Aribowo, who was ruled out with a knee injury.

For Malaysia, right-back Sabre Abu and right midfielder Ashari Samsuddin came in for the suspended Mahalli Jasuli and Amirulhadi Zainal.

The crowd, which included Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, had filled every seat in the 85,000-capacity stadium nearly two hours before kick-off, hoping to roar their team on to the quick start that they needed to turn the tie around after their decisive loss in the first leg.

The home side's first real opportunity arrived in the 17th minute when a long free-kick by Zulkifli Syukur was flicked on by Cristain Gonzales to his strike partner Irfan Bachdim, who stabbed his effort from close range straight at the goalkeeper.

The Indonesians were presented with a gilt-edged opportunity to take the lead two minutes later when Australian referee Peter Green awarded pointed to the penalty spot after spotting a handball by a Malaysian defender as several players went up for a high ball into the box.

Skipper Firman took responsibility for the penalty but his weak effort was easily saved by Khairul, who dived low to his left.

The Malaysians were a constant menace on the counter-attack and they nearly got the crucial away goal a minute later when Ashari Samsuddin received a pass from Norshahrul Idlan and went past the challenge of Hamka Hamzah before unleashing a fierce low drive that goalkeeper Markus Harison did well to parry.

On 25 minutes, a cross from the right by-line by Ridwan took a deflection off Malaysian defender Asraruddin Putra and looped up to the far post to Gonzales, who failed to put his header on target.

A minute later, a free-kick by Firman found Ridwan and Gonzales unmarked at the far post, but the pair appeared to get in each other's way and Gonzales headed over.

Two minutes before the break, the ball dropped to Gonzales on the left of the box but his effort from a narrow angle flew well over the crossbar.

And right before half-time, the Malaysians had to resort to some desperate defending to keep out an effort by Ridwan before Muslim Ahmad headed out a goal-bound effort from under his crossbar.

The Indonesians continued to force the issue after the break but despite dominating play, they were caught on the break in the 54th minute after giving away possession cheaply just inside their own half.

Norshahrul launched the ball forward to Safee, who outpaced the Indonesian defence before lashing the ball into the top left corner of the net for his tournament-leading fifth goal.

Needing five goals now to win the tie, Indonesia coach Alfred Riedl threw on Bambang Pamungkas and Eka Ramdani to replace Irfan and Firman.

The Malaysian continued to hold firm but their run of three clean sheets was finally ended in the 72nd minute when Khairul could only parry a shot by Bambang, which allowed Nasuha to put away the rebound, giving the home fans some renewed hope.

The Indonesian continued to press but could not manage another breakthrough until the 88th minute when Ridwan's shot from the edge of the box took a deflection off a Malaysian defender on its way past Khairul.

Bambang had a chance to net a third for the Indonesians in stoppage time but his free-kick was well saved by Khairul as the Malaysians easily hung on to claim the title.

Hackers Attack Malaysian Web Sites

Soccer Extreme : Indonesia suffered its first defeat in the 2010 Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup, falling 3-0 to Malaysia in the first leg of the final at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

On Monday, a number of Malaysian Web sites were hacked by a group calling itself Indonesian coder team or Kamtiez.

According to Internet expert Irvan Nasrun as quoted by news portal Detik.com, 11 Web sites, including one belonging to Sony Music, were attacked after Indonesia's defeat.

Soccer Extreme : Indonesian Goalkeeper Muhammad Haris Maulana (Markus Horison) said he was dazzled by green lasers shone by Malaysian fans at the Bukit Jalil Stadium during Indonesia’s 3-0 loss to hosts Malaysia in the Suzuki Cup final First Leg in Kuala Lumpur,Sunday, 26th Dec 2010.

“In the first half, I saw beams of green light shining on the ball when I was preparing for a goal kick,” the 29-year-old told Markus Horison.

“In the second half, I realized the light came from fans behind the Malaysian goal since it shone directly in my face when I was saving the balls.”

“The light forced me to turn my head away.”

He admitted that Malaysian fans had failed to uphold the spirit of fair play, setting off firecrackers on stages many times and shining the laser in the eyes of Indonesian players.

“It is very dangerous and can cause eye injury,” he said. “I can’t understand why they did it.”

During the game, the Coach of the Indonesia squad, Alfred Riedl, complained about the laser to match officials who merely promised to stop it. (aff)

Soccer Extreme : Malaysia picked up a handsome 3-0 win over arch rivals Indonesia in the first-leg of the final in the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championships at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

Mohd Safee Sali (pic, number 10) was the toast scoring a brace in the 60th and 73rd minutes while substitute Mohd Ashaari Shamsuddin scored the other goal in the 67th minute to give Malaysia a comfortable three-goal cushion for the second-leg final at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Malaysia had lost to Indonesia in the opening Group A match 1-5 in Jakarta on Dec 1.

Indonesia players also had to deal with the crowd, who were pointing laser lights at goalkeeper Markus Harison.

Referee Toma Masaaki stopped the match in the 53rd minute, after Indonesia complained that the lights were being aimed at players while they tried to defend Malaysia’s free kick.

The game resumed after eight minutes.

Since the defeat the Malaysians have picked up momentum going three games undefeated - holding three-time winners Thailand (0-0), thrashing Laos (5-1) and knocking out defending champions Vietnam 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals last week.

Malaysia have never won the AFF series since the inaugural meet held in Singapore in 1996.

The AFF Suzuki Cup is poised for a climactic finish with fierce rivals Malaysia and Indonesia locking horns in the home and away final on Boxing Day and December 29.

Indonesia, the great underachievers of Asean football, overcame a robust Philippines side 2-0 on aggregate in their last-four clash to end the Azkals' fairytale run in the biennial event that grips the region.

The tactically astute K. Rajagobal steered the young tigers of Malaysia into the final for the first time since the inaugural championship in 1996 with a 2-0 aggregate victory over defending champions Vietnam.

A couple of goalkeeping slip-ups cost Vietnam dear in the away leg of the semi-final with striker Safee Sali scoring twice and Malaysia stood firm in the cauldron-like atmosphere of the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi to record a famous victory.

Indonesia beat Malaysia 5-1 in their opening group game of the tournament but the scoreline did not accurately reflect the closeness of the encounter and neither camp expects a similarly lopsided result in the final.

Malaysia conceded several soft goals but the players have grown in stature during the tournament and will not be giving away any late Christmas presents in the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on December 26.

Indonesia will be contesting their fourth final having fallen at the last hurdle to Thailand in 2000 (4-1 in one-off final) and 2002 (4-2 on penalties after 2-2 draw) and Singapore in 2004 (5-2 on aggregate).

They met Malaysia at the semi-final stage in 2004 and after losing 2-1 at home went further behind in the return leg at the Bukit Jalil Stadium before bouncing back with four second-half goals to earn a 5-3 aggregate victory.

Having played all their matches at Fortress Jakarta, there is the danger that Indonesia will be spooked by the hostile reception that awaits them from the capacity crowd in Kuala Lumpur.

Coach Alfred Riedl will be keen for them to settle quickly and skipper Firman Utina and Muhammad Ridwan to take control of the midfield and supply the ammunition for barrel-chested hitman Cristian Gonzales, whose two strikes against the Philippines in the semi-finals took him to the top of the scoring charts with three goals.

Irfan Bachdim, the new poster boy of Indonesia football, missed the second leg of the semi-final because of injury but if fit to return his incisive running and sharpness in the box could prove crucial to the outcome.

Indonesia looked jittery at the back against both Thailand and the Philippines with 'keeper Markus Harison suspect under the high ball, a point that will have not been lost on the astute Rajagobal.

Sali has the pace and trickery to worry the Indonesian defence and given good service from Norshahrul Idlan and S. Kunanlan could be Malaysia's match-winner again.

Rajogobal knows that Malaysia need goals in the home leg but will want his young side to settle into the match before venturing forward in numbers.

'Keeper Khairul Fahmi has been a revelation since replacing Sharbinee Allawee after the 5-1 loss to Indonesia and has only conceded one goal in four matches.

Both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur return to action this boxing day after an unforeseen two weeks break. That break was caused by the snowy conditions that forced both Villa and Spur’s games against Wigan and Blackpool respectively, to be postponed. So, the similarities between these two are many, but you do not need profound examination to determine that something has gone terribly wrong in the Villa camp this season.

They should’ve at least been a team pushing for the European places, yet they find themselves sitting in 15th place, in desperate need of a saviour. And Gerard Houllier has thus far failed to be Villa’s own personal Jesus Christ, as Villa have endured a fall from grace after the enigmatic Martin O’Neil left for pastures anew. Houllier will certainly be praying to God for some Christmas miracles to make believers of the doubters. And to start, he will be hoping he can have Ashley and Luke Young back for this game.

Tottenham, on the other hand, welcome back the trio of Rafael Van Der Vaart, Jermaine Jenas and Younes Kaboul for this game. Van Der Vaart’s return especially is a big boost for the North London club who could do with his goal scoring antics of late. Tottenham currently sit on 27 points, fifth in the league table. A win would bring them within a point of fourth place Chelsea. Tottenham need a win to ensure they stay in the running for the Barclays Premier League, even though pundits have already written them off, citing their inexperience in such situations and Champions League distractions as major reasons.

A win for Villa and Houllier will definitely go a long way in instilling some confidence within the team, and inspire some belief in a team that seems at times faithless. But a loss would put Tottenham further behind in the title race, and that is something Harry Redknapp knows he can't afford if he wants his team to be taken seriously and synonymously with the title favourites like United, Chelsea and Arsenal, and surely Redknapp will have no disillusions for the task at hand. All the next year Elena watched Maria making progress and then offered her to work together. A three-year program was made and a special team was selected. In less than three years Maria became the number one in her age group and the number two in the group under eighteen. The well-known tennis-players Yevgeni Kafelnikov, Andrei Olhovsky and Max Mirnyi, who had created an organization supporting young tennis-players, helped Kirilenko to arrange her training-process and to attend tournaments.

In 2002 Kirilenko became one of the youngest winners of the Canadian Open and the US Open Junior Tournaments. Since September 2002 Kirilenko started participating in WTA events. At the end of 2005 she had climbed right up the rankings and won her first title in Beijing.

She has been recognised as one of the up and coming players of 2006 and, despite being off her best form during the Summer, she has broken into the top 20 for the first time on June 12th, 2006. Malaysia will host the first of two games at Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Jalil Stadium on Dec. 26.

Andita bought 180 tickets for her friends in the Indonesian Students' Association.

“We will paint Bukit Jalil red,” she said.

Similar enthusiasm was shared by Tari, an Indonesian housewife living in Kuala Lumpur.

“I have to watch the final match. This is Indonesia against Malaysia,” she said.

Meanwhile, the district head of Kerinci in Jambi province, Murasman, issued an official advisory to the 6,000 Kerinci people who currently work in Malaysia encouraging them to watch the match live.

"Our district head has officially advised all Kerinci people in Malaysia to support the Indonesian football team 100 percent by watching the match at Bukit Jalil Stadium," district spokesperson Amri Swarta said, adding that Murasman is an avid football fan.

The Indonesian Embassy allows only five tickets per person unless the tickets are purchased on behalf of a group or organization. Ticket sales will be conducted until Sunday afternoon.

In Jakarta, thousands of people lined up in front of Bung Karno Stadium starting at 6 a.m. to buy tickets for the Jakarta leg of the final, which takes place next Wednesday. Ticket prices range from Rp 75,000 ($8) for the tribune section to Rp 1 million for VVIP class. (jakartaglobe)
